Biography
Praised for her “chameleon voice” (France Musique, February 2023), French mezzo-soprano Albane Carrère thrives as much in large-scale opera productions as in chamber music projects.
Born in Vienna, Austria, she studied sociology at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and then singing at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, before appearing regularly as a soloist at European festivals and in opera houses in France, Belgium and Italy, in a repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary.
She has recently sung Cherubino at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Carmen and Zerlina at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, the lead role of The Woman in the world premiere of Jean-Luc Fafchamps’s Is this the end? at La Monnaie in Brussels, and Idamante in Mozart’s Idomeneo at the Opéra Grand Avignon.
She has appeared on television and radio programmes devoted to classical music (France 3 and France Musique), and her recent recordings have been acclaimed by critics, earning several awards and distinctions.
