Florian Laconi sings a wide range of roles, from the bel canto repertoire – Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Tebaldo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) – to Verdi, verismo and Puccini, as the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Fenton (Falstaff), Prunier (La rondine), Luigi and Rinuccio (Il trittico), Beppe (Pagliacci), Pong and Pang (Turandot), Rodolfo (La bohème), Des Grieux (Manon) and Cassio (Otello). But his favourite repertoire, in which he specialises, remains French opera: Jean (Massenet’s Le Jongleur de Notre-Dame), Nicias (Thaïs), Nadir (Les Pêcheurs de perles), Roméo (Roméo et Juliette), Pâris (La Belle Hélène), Vincent (Mireille), Faust, Hoffmann (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Georges (Benjamin Godard’s La Vivandière), the Chevalier de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites), Gonzalve (L’Heure espagnole), Rodolphe (La Nonne sanglante) and Vasco de Gama (L’Africaine).

In recent years he has moved towards a more dramatic tenor repertoire, with roles such as Don José (Carmen), Jean (Hérodiade), Vasco de Gama (L’Africaine) and the title role in Sigurd, which he has sung at the Opéra de Marseille, as well as Rodolphe (La Nonne sanglante) and Samson (Samson et Dalila), which he has sung at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne…

He performs in France at the opera houses of Avignon, Metz, Reims, Limoges, Clermont-Ferrand, Massy, Rouen, Nice, Saint-Étienne, Tours, Marseille, Montpellier and Paris, as well as at the Chorégies d’Orange, the Festival Radio France et Montpellier and the Opéra Royal de Versailles, and abroad, notably in Hong Kong, at the opera houses of Liège, Monte-Carlo and Los Angeles, and at the Festival Granda in Lima, Peru.

On 14 July 2013 he was invited by General Boulanger, then Military Governor of Paris, to sing “La Marseillaise” at the military parade on the Champs-Élysées, in the presence of French President François Hollande and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

He also sings sacred music and oratorio: Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle and Stabat Mater, the Requiems of Mozart, Berlioz and Gounod, Haydn’s Stabat Mater and Ramírez’s Misa Criolla.

More recently he has sung Mario (Tosca) at the Opéra de Metz, Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) at the Opéra de Tours and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne. Since September 2019 he has played Alfredo in “The Opera Locos” at the Théâtre Libre and then at Bobino in Paris, and on tour all over France!

Since 2011 he has also been a regular guest on “Musiques en fête”, broadcast live every year on France 3 from the Chorégies d’Orange to open the Fête de la Musique celebrations.
