Biography

Soprano Héloïse Poulet is one of the new generation of French opera singers. As a young girl she studied clarinet at the intercommunal conservatoire of Solesmes, in northern France, and joined the Conservatoire Eugène Bozza in Valenciennes in 2015. The following year she began studying classical singing there in Daniel Ottevaere’s class.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in musicology at the University of Lille in 2019 and in 2021 joined Daniel Ottevaere’s singing class at the École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot, as well as Mireille Larroche’s stagecraft class. She was awarded her Artist Diploma there in 2023 unanimously, with the jury’s congratulations. She is a laureate of the Véronique Davério Foundation and the Malvina and Denise Menda Foundation, which supported her throughout her studies. Héloïse has also won prizes at several international competitions:

the Young Talent Prize and the Génération Opéra Prize at the Concours Jeunes Espoirs d’Avignon in 2019, the Young Hope Prize at the Vivonne Opera Competition in 2020, the Grand Prize for Contemporary Music at the George Enescu Competition, First Grand Prize at the Georges Liccioni Competition in Angers in 2021 and the Thomas Kuti Prize at the Lions Club Competition in 2022, as well as fourth prize at the Voix Nouvelles competition in 2023.

Spotted early on by composer Gabriel Yared, she has performed regularly with him since 2018, notably with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under Dirk Brossé for the composer’s “Tribute Concert”. Her very first production saw her sing Pamina and Papagena in a play entitled “Une flûte enchantée” at the Théâtre Royal du Parc in Brussels. She sang Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at the Estivales Lyriques de Wissant and made her opera debut as the Page in Rigoletto at the Opéra de Rouen under Ben Glassberg, sharing the stage with Pene Pati and Rosa Feola; she will reprise the same production, directed by Richard Brunel, at the Opéra de Toulon. She covered the late Jodie Devos as Julie Follavoine in the world premiere of Philippe Boesmans’s “On purge bébé” at La Monnaie in Brussels. She has sung the Shepherdess and the Bat in L’Enfant et les sortilèges, directed by Jean-Louis Grinda, at the opera houses of Avignon and Tours.

Next season she will sing Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola at the opera houses of Nancy, Caen, Reims and Luxembourg, Parthénis in Offenbach’s La Belle Hélène at the Opéra de Toulon, and Zerlina in Offenbach’s Les Brigands at the Palais Garnier.
