Biography
Founded in 2018 on the initiative of Benjamin Garzia, the Mahlerian Camerata is a shape-shifting orchestra conceived as an ambassador for the humanist and pantheistic thought of composer Gustav Mahler.
What makes it unique is its ability to change shape, size and line-up so that it can perform in all kinds of settings and venues of every size.
The Mahlerian Camerata thus appears both on major national stages and at leading festivals – such as the Chorégies d’Orange and the opera houses of Marseille, Vichy and Massy – and in more intimate spaces such as the Salle Cortot or other venues, some of them unusual or rural. This flexibility is made possible by orchestrations tailored to each production.
Beyond the repertoire of Gustav Mahler, in which its musicians are recognised specialists, the orchestra explores every era and style with finesse, from the Renaissance to today’s pop music.
The Mahlerian Camerata’s original collaborations have led it to share the stage with internationally renowned artists such as Vannina Santoni, Daphné Souvatzi and François Aria, Clémence de Forceville, Stacey Kent and the Amrat Hussain Brothers Trio.
