Who benefits from the crime?

Everyone – if it sets emotions free, shatters prejudice and blows convention sky-high.

Martini in hand and dark glasses on, the Sisters kick down the doors of propriety without ever breaking a nail. They embezzle money, men – and music… only to hand it back to the poor!

From Bernstein to Gershwin by way of Cole Porter, timeless classics and rare gems alike, this high-octane trio celebrates the joys of cultural crossover and women’s emancipation.

Driven by the vocal prowess of its two divas and the electrifying playing of its pianist, Sisters in Crime blends classical and jazz with dazzling cheek.

Ever more glamorous, ever darker (in black and white): a concert-show to (re)discover without delay!

The team

Julie Mossay and Sarah Laulan both studied with José van Dam at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. Since then they have been taking opera houses, concert halls and… cabarets by storm! Julie also has a passion for musical theatre and jazz, while Sarah trained as an actress. Johan Dupont – pianist, trumpeter and accordionist – is equally at home in classical music, world music and jazz. The show is directed by Edouard Signolet, who has written, created and directed many shows and operas for children. Together, they put all their energy into bringing classical music to everyone, with no hang-ups.

Repertoire

Sisters in Crime (David Miller), My Heart Belongs to Daddy (Cole Porter), Money Makes the World Go Around (John Kander), I Feel Pretty (Leonard Bernstein), Je suis pocharde (Louis Byrec), My Man (Maurice Yvain), Mon mec à moi (François Bernheim), Cell Block Tango (John Kander), Fever (Blackwell – Cooley), I Want to Be Evil (Judson – Taylor)…

The show has been touring Belgium since December 2017, in theatres, cabarets and open-air venues, including the Gaume Jazz Festival and the Festival royal de Spa. For two seasons it was a partner production of the Jeunesses Musicales de Belgique.
