A rehearsal that was never meant to have witnesses is suddenly thrown open to the public. Since the audience is here, they might as well give them a concert! If only the Maestro and the Diva can get to the end of their rehearsal without killing each other…
She is an instinctive contralto who happily swaps organisation for panache and punctuality for charm. He is a perfectionist pianist and conductor who can’t bear the slightest musical approximation – or fingerprints on his piano.
In this joyful chaos, theatre and music become one. Offenbach, Chabrier, Chopin, Bizet, Saint-Saëns, Donizetti, Rossini and a few other illustrious accomplices provide the musical material, which they handle with fantasy but never without rigour.
Accessible to newcomers and the most demanding music lovers alike, La Répétition ! celebrates classical music with tenderness, virtuosity and self-mockery. Behind the bursts of laughter lie genuine musical performances.
Laughing with classical music – never at it.
The team
Marie Pons trained at the Maîtrise des Bouches-du-Rhône and then at the conservatoires of Aix-en-Provence and Marseille. She is regularly invited as a soloist by major theatres and festivals (Théâtre de l’Odéon, Festival de Chaillol, Festival Durance-Luberon, Sylvanès…) and by conductors such as Jacques Chalmeau, Christian Mendoze and Raoul Lay. She has sung the role of Carmen more than thirty times and has been a finalist in several international competitions (Nîmes, San Colombano, Genoa…).
Cédric Dol – pianist, horn player and choral conductor – honed his skills with Joseph La Marca and then Aldo Ciccolini. He performs in recital, in chamber music and as a horn player in symphony orchestras: in 2023 he was the soloist in Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 2 with the Orchestre Allegria. Trained in choral conducting by Michel Piquemal, he directs several vocal ensembles.
The adventures of the Maestro and the Diva continue on social media, in a series of short videos.
