Jeunesse

Le coucher enchanté de Mina

Summary

A show for children – theatre, music, opera, magic…

Sophie de Guerry – Mina

Lucie Emeraude – Mum

Ages 2 to 8

Running time: 35 minutes

Mina’s bedtime is no ordinary bedtime, even if it looks like one… While her mum desperately tries to get her to sleep, Mina comes up with all sorts of excuses to stay awake. And then her cuddly toys come to life! Together they discover their magic powers: turning a witch into a cat, then into a crocodile, or becoming a princess or a pirate!

Opera slips into the child’s own world: a bedroom, during the most familiar of scenes – bedtime. Parents and children alike will recognise themselves!

The music

Mozart (The Magic Flute: the Queen of the Night, the magic bells; The Marriage of Figaro: Cherubino), Dvořák (Song to the Moon, Rusalka), Gounod (Juliette’s Waltz, Roméo et Juliette), Offenbach (Barcarolle, The Tales of Hoffmann), Rossini (Cat Duet)… as well as nursery rhymes the children know: “Ah les crocodiles”, “Au clair de la lune”.

Operatic and contemporary singing, an original soundtrack, guitar, flute, piano, glockenspiel and percussion.

More than a show

The children learn a short melody from The Magic Flute, discover the ideas of high and low, loud and soft, fast and slow, hear singing in several languages, and join in by singing and talking with the performers. Light-up costumes, a mirror ball, bubbles, floating feathers and little magic tricks complete the enchantment.

“What strikes you from the very start is the respect for children’s intelligence.” “As funny as it is educational.” – Sortie Théâtre
