Summary
A vocal duo, out of doors
Margaux Toqué – Mezzo-soprano, actress
Sarah Laulan – Contralto, actress
Created in September 2026 for the Éclats festival in Dieulefit
Technical requirements: 2 chairs – that’s all!
Two opera singers who love taking the road less travelled come together around one shared wish: to explore the a cappella voice.
A portable instrument we all share, the voice is both a tool for communication and a carrier of emotion. When it sends out its call – a shepherd’s call, a prayer, a cry of celebration – it carries us beyond ourselves and into the heart of our most intimate and primal feelings.
From Inuit songs to Sicilian, Berber, Yemeni and Romani laments, Margaux and Sarah invite you to discover the voice in all its states, with no frills.
A concert that inhabits its setting
Toutes voix dehors was designed to reach out to places as much as to the people who live in them: historic sites, chapels, barns, courtyards, gardens, warehouses, natural spaces or unexpected locations.
The voices move around, draw closer, drift apart, seek out resonance and invent a unique way of inhabiting the space. Every acoustic becomes material to play with.
Singing with the space, singing among the people, and sometimes singing with them: turning the concert into a shared, living, one-of-a-kind moment.
Repertoire
Traditional and folk songs: the Mediterranean, the Balkans, North Africa, the Middle East, Romani cultures, northern repertoires… Work songs, protest songs, songs of celebration and prayer, polyphonies and a cappella vocal traditions.
Operatic repertoire, revisited and subverted.
New works and musical theatre.
Improvisation, vocal games and sound exploration.
Participatory songs and oral transmission.
